WHAT I THOUGHT

I love me some Mike and Ike candy, but I think my favorite is probably their Passion Mix. It is a delicious mix of fruity flavor that just creates a symphony in your mouth! Okay, that is maybe an exaggeration. Alright, alright - it is an exaggeration but it was so good. The Paradise Punch flavor went really well with the strawberry, cherry, and grape flavors. Now, I've never really cared for anything grape-flavored, even grape juice. But the grape flavors wasn't overpowering or overbearing, which made me happy!

The "Hottie" Hot Tamales candy tasted just like you would expect - a spicy cinnamon bite that is addicting. I just don't suggest eating several at one time. It tends to get a little hot! Though I must say that Twin, who doesn't care for Hot Tamales, seemed to really liked them this time.

I was going to try and save the Mike and Ike and Hot Tamales candies so I could chop them up and put them in a cookie dough, but they didn't last. I might have to buy more!

By the way, does anyone know of a place that sells heart-shaped cookie cutters cheap?

WHAT I THOUGHT

It is no secret that my family loves Mike and Ike. Whenever there is any around, we have a hard time staying away from it. The fruity flavors are just addicting! So I was kind of exciting when I found out that I would be trying their Merry Mix, Minion Mix, and getting a look at their seasonal Hot Tamales stocking stuffer!

I dived headfirst into the Minion Mix first. I love Minions and was anxious to try the blue raspberry and banana flavors. Oh my goodness! I never knew that those two flavors would be so wonderful together! It was like a party in my mouth. The banana flavor really tasted like banana while the blue raspberry tasted like, well, blue raspberry. But together, it was so good and juicy. Oh, and the packaging actually made me giggle. It was so cute!

The next one I sampled was the Merry Mix. While it has lime and cherry flavors, my absolute favorite was the Holiday Punch flavor. It embodied holiday punch, and just rounded the rest of the flavors. And did I mention how festive it looks? I might to chop some of these and add them to sugar cookies we'll be baking soon.

I love Hot Tamales and have for years. I think it all started in elementary, when I had something similar and I guess I just never lost my taste for them. They still tasted wonderful, and kind of hot after eating more than a few. But the stocking stuffer packaging is very seasonal. I mean, check out the fireball with a Santa hat on it! It has a To/From area on the back, if you can convince yourself to give them to someone. I love the little snowflakes!

Mike and Ike has definitely made my holidays sweeter.

WHAT I THOUGHT

Mike and Ike Twister Jelly Beans

For as long as I can remember, my family has been a BIG fan of Mike and Ike. In fact, I remember eating them back in 2005, when I would buy some at the convenience store after seeing my then-boyfriend. For some reason, my family never outgrew them, and I am glad they didn't!

Anyways, my family celebrates Easter like most families do: dinner, candy, the occasional stuffed bunny, and The Ten Commandments. I always try to include Mike and Ike as part of our Easter candy, since it doesn't melt like chocolate or go stale like Peeps.

The first variety I personally tried was the Mike and Ike Assorted Fruits Jelly Beans. It had the classic Mike and Ike flavors, though it certainly tasted like the Lemon flavor has been pumped up. It was definitely a pucker moment. The rest of the flavors were delicious of course, though I think I got more lemon than anything else.

My personal favorite, the Mike and Ike Twister Jelly Beans, were an EXPLOSION of flavor! As you can see from the picture above, it resembles jelly beans, and yes, they were all different sizes and shapes. It had more a tangy flavor than the Assorted Fruits Jelly Beans, and even Twin couldn't stop "tasting" them. I'll be lucky if they make it to Sunday.

Mike and Ike Easter Treats

Of course, the Mike and Ike Easter Treats and Hot Tamales Cinnamon Jelly Beans has their wonderful signature taste. I even loved the bunny on the Easter Treats box. Isn't it adorable? Look at those ears!

The Easter Treats didn't last long, but luckily we still have some Hot Tamales, Assorted Fruits Jelly Beans, and Twisted Jelly Beans left and with a little luck, they will last until Sunday. Maybe...

Mike and Ike Bejeweled Cookies

Prep time: 15 min.
Cook time: 10 min.
Total time: 25 min.
Yield: 36 cookies
Ingredients

1 1/2 boxes Mike and Ike Passion Mix, chopped
2/3 cup margarine, cold
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda

Cooking Directions

Pre-heat over to 350*F.
In a mixer bowl, put 2/3 cup of margarine, 1 cup of sugar, 1 egg, and 1 teapsoon of vanilla.
Mix until well creamed.
Add in 2 cups of flour and 1 teaspoon of baking soda.
Add in chopped Mike and Ike Passion Mix. Min into a dough. (Will be slightly sticky.)
Roll into 1 inch balls. Place on cookie sheets lined with baking paper.
Bake for about 10 minutes or until edges are golden. Centers will be slightly soft.
Let cool.

Continuing to celebrate the reunion of the dynamic candy duo Mike and Ike, they are releasing two Halloween-themed editions of the iconic Mike and Ike fruity chewy candy! Mike and Ike Mummy's Mix and the new Vampire Variety are perfect for all trick-or-treaters this Halloween!

Mummy's Mix contains the great tastes of Lemon, Orange, Grape, Lime, and Raspberry while Vampire Variety includes Cherry, Raspberry, Grape, Watermelon, and Fruit Punch.

You can find the Halloween flavors in several packages, including 5oz theater-style boxes, 45 or 75 count variety bags that contain individually wrapped snack size bags of Mummy's Mix and Vampire Variety, as well as 21 count snack packs containing snack size bags of Mummy's Mix.

The Halloween mixes and all other varieties can be found in supermarkets, mass market retailers, and drug stores.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

Not only are we big Halloween fans, we're also big Mike and Ike fans. So when I found out we would be getting to try their new Halloween mixes, I jumped for joy. Okay, not really but my sweet tooth was ready.

First off, I just love the theater boxes. Don't they just scream Halloween? Even the little bags look like the boxes, which are great for handing out on Halloween night. Though I have to be honest- I don't think they'll make it a whole month. As far as flavor goes, my favorite was Mummy's Mix. The sweet and sour of the lemon, orange, grape, lime, and raspberry made for a great candy-eating time. The Vampire Variety was full of sweetness with the flavors of cherry, raspberry, grape, watermelon, and fruit punch. Twin's favorite was the Vampire Variety.

I gave out one snack-size bag to Mom (She preferred the Vampire Variety as well. Party poopers!) and one to a friend who stopped by to see how I was feeling. My friend liked the Mummy's Mix she was handed. Her verdict? She loved it. Victory!

I have a few more snack-size bags left and those are going into my sweet-tooth stash.

Relive your childhood with Mike & Ike retro flavors! (Review)

Are you for Mike or are you for Ike? Either way it goes, you are for their delicious fruit candy!
The makers of Mike and Ike announce the limited return of Mike & Ike Cherri and Bubb and Mike & Ike Lem and Mel candies available now through April, 2013! The candies first became a hit in 1989 (Cherri and Bubb) and 1991 (Lem and Mel).

Both retro flavors combine two great tasting fruits for a sweet and unique. Cherri and Bubb is a blend of cherry and bubblegum flavors while Lem and Mel is a mix of lemon and watermelon flavors.

Cherri and Bubb and Lem and Mel are hitting store shelves now and will only be available through April 2013.

The Mike & Ike split shocked the world last spring, generating a high volume of fan and celebrity reactions. The independent and talented duo has decided to follow their true passions. WHAT I THOUGHT

For as long as I can remember, I have been eating Mike & Ike, especially the Hot Tamales. I was excited to try their retro flavors!

Mike & Ike Lem and Mel

Mike & Ike Cherri and Bubb- Pop a bunch in your mouth and you'll think you're chewing cherry flavored bubblegum! If eat one at a time, Cherri tastes like cherry and Bubb tastes like a very light bubblegum. I prefer them mixed and that's how I ate them.
Mike & Ike Lem and Mel- It's a weird thing, but I love sour flavors. When I was a kid, I used to eat lemons by themselves, whole. Of course, I don't do that anymore but I always have a lemon with my tea. Anyways, these weren't too sour at all! You could definitely tell they were lemon flavors and watermelon flavors. I don't know about you, but either one of those are just yummy as candy! This one was definitely my favorite and it was the first one I tried!

Since they'll be available up until April, I might get some more for Easter- or just to have around the house. Delish!
