Sometimes we get so involved in today's music that we tend to forget about the truly inspiring music that fills your soul and ears with lyrics that have true meaning.

Shauna Burns is a Las Vegas based Celtic folk singer-songwriter who blends ethereal vocals and sweeping piano runs who has won over audiences across the United States with her Celtic style. Burns had developed her captivating vocal and playing style while growing up in Miami, where she was inspired by her mother’s love for the piano and groundbreaking pop/rock artists like Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos.

After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology at the University of Utah, she spent a year in Europe preparing her debut album. Burns’ music has long been inspired by many cultures and ideas that surround the world as well as the landscape of the deserts and mountains of the Western U.S.
Violet album cover
Her newest album Violet, which was released in October, includes 14 original songs that focus on life in many different areas: love, happiness, and inspiration.

I personally love Celtic folk, considering that most of my heritage comes from the Celtic region. So I tend to enjoy artists like Celtic Thunder, Gaelic Storm, Marc Gunn, Celtic Women, and now, Shauna Burns.

One listen to her beautiful voice, I was instantly mesmerized- which rarely happens. I had the chance to listen to her Violet album and I must say that she is talented! While each song has a similar melody, the mood definitely varies from song to song. Some songs make you feel happy (such as Portobello and Little Song) while some songs make you want to curl up and just listen (such as Vienna, Seascape Sonata, and See Her Again). My favorites are definitely Violet and Above Abiquiu. I tend to listen to those 2 songs over and over.

Some might compare her to Enya, but Shauna Burns has her own style that sets her apart from anyone else. What I say- I love her music!
