I was NOT compensated for this post. I received FREE samples from Lola Granola to review. All thoughts/opinions are my own.
Finding healthy, yet satisfying snacks when you're trying to lose weight is kind of hard. When you have that sweet tooth, you try to stay away from delicious chocolate and sugar-filled snackables but then you start craving them again. Not exactly helpful when you want to lose those few extra pounds.
So when I was approached by Lola Granola Bar to review their wonderful line of gluten-free and non-GMO granola bars, I was kind of nervous because either granola bars taste like cardboard (Ick!) or have tons of sugar in them. I want to avoid tons of sugar.
What's the 4-1-1 on Lola Granola? Like I said, they are gluten-free and non-GMO. They are also packed with plenty of protein and Omega-3s, but luckily, they are low in sodium. Flavors include The Ellie (cashews and dates), Enzo (almonds and cashews), Lola (cranberries and almonds), Nathan (blueberries and almonds), and Ruby (cranberries). If you take a look at the ingredient list of each bar, you recognize every ingredient, which is something that I look for in a high quality granola bar. And trust me when I say that these granola bars are high quality!
What was the verdict from the family?
Twin can't have coconut (which makes her sick) and since all of the granola bars have coconut in them, she graciously had 1 or 2 to help me taste all of the deliciousness.
The Ellie - I don't eat dates often, so I was kind of surprised at the sweetness of it. Coupled with the coconut, which is already sweet, it made my sweet-tooth happy. The crunch of the cashews, which I love, added just a hint of texture with that nutty taste.
Enzo - Almonds are my weakness. In fact, the cereal I eat for breakfast some mornings has almonds. But when you add cashews to it, you get that full nut flavor that is packed with protein and fills you up. I had one for lunch, and I had tons of energy. Yum!
Lola - I've never had cranberries and almonds together, and I thought it would taste a little weird since cranberries are tart and almonds, well, already have a lot of flavor. Immediately, I got the tarty cranberry flavor and just a trace of the smokiness from the almonds. While it wasn't a favorite of mine, Twin seemed to enjoy it. She even asked for another one later that day!
Nathan - Blueberries and almonds sounds like it would make a delicious breakfast, especially if you add corn flakes to it. Well, subtract the corn flakes, make it into a granola bar, and you have breakfast on the go! I had one for breakfast, and I loved the blueberries. They tasted fresh, and paired nicely with the almonds.
Ruby - If you love cranberries, and not just for Thanksgiving, this one is for you! Every mouthful is packed full of that delicious tart flavor, and it does kind of remind you of Thanksgiving. It was a little sweet, but fortunately, you only need one to satisfy that granola bar craving! Mom really liked this one.
Yep, they are filling, takes care of any cravings, and hits the spot.
