Mrs. Renfro's Review & Giveaway

Flavor is a must for food. I love food that has tons of flavor, maybe a little heat, and just a smidgen of sweetness. I've eaten food that has been so bland or salty, I couldn't eat it. I have to admit, that sometimes my own food used to taste a little bland.

But thanks to Mrs. Renfro's, you don't have to worry about that! They offer gourmet salsas as well as other relish, syrup, and barbecue sauce. They have been churning out taste-bud inducing flavors since 1940, when George Renfro founded the George Renfro Food Company. In 1972, they changed names to Renfro Foods. A fun little fact- Renfro Foods is one of the nation's largest producers of chow, a Southern relish made of garden vegetables, vinegar and spices.

Ghost Pepper Salsa
If you love salsa (like this family does), then you have quite a variety to choose from! If you're cooking meatloaf but want a little spiciness, why not try the Roasted Salsa? It is also Gluten-Free! Glazing chicken breast? Give the Pomegranate Salsa a test drive. With its vibrant pomegranate concentrate and chipotle pepper, it is sure to be a hit with your family! Think your taste buds can handle anything? If you think you can handle it, then why not taste Ghost Pepper Salsa? It’s made from the one of the hottest peppers on Earth. To add just an extra punch, the Ghost Pepper Salsa includes just a bit of Jalapeno Peppers. If you ever try it, let me know what you think.

Having a hot dog party but need something other than boring relish?  They have 5 different relishes to fit your hot dog needs! Or better yet, try some of them in tuna salads! For an interesting taste on your hot dogs, put a little Corn Relish on top.  For a bit of sourness, use a little Mild Chow Chow(or Hot Chow Chow if you dare!).

The best thing about Mrs. Renfro's Gourmet Salsas? Besides having big and bold flavors, all of their salsas are gluten-free as well as fat-free. They are made only with natural ingredients. They are also readily found in most major grocery stores throughout the US, Caribbean, Canada & the UK.

Let’s say you know which one you want but don’t know how to use it or which dish. They have recipes for you to try out! Make Mexican Fudge, Taco Pie, or one of the many tried-and-true recipes from the Renfro Foods 70th Anniversary Recipe Contest. Don't forget that every jar features a simple & tasty recipe right on the label for creative cooking use!

Get your kids involved with the Kids Corner, where they have online games (quite fun!)  as well as printables.

WHAT I THOUGHT
I was able to try the Black Bean Salsa, Nacho Cheese Sauce, Jalapeno Green Salsa, and Mild Chow Chow.

Black Bean Salsa- It didn’t even taste like your average salsa! There weren’t a lot of beans, which I thought was great because it would have overpowered any of the other flavors (like Green Chile Peppers) that were in there. I put in on a burger and it totally transformed the burger. Instead of tasting like “just a burger”, it tasted like a Southwestern burger. It wasn’t hot at all and had a wonderful flavor.

Nacho Cheese Sauce- This one is definitely my favorite! It was very good, just a bit spicy but it was a mild heat. You know how some cheese sauces tend to be a tad salty? It didn’t taste salty at all. It was definitely cheesy, but I love cheese so I didn’t mind. We used it for nachos and those were probably the best nachos ever.

Jalapeno Green Salsa- We still have quite a bit of the Green Salsa. It was very hot, but it tasted great after the heat goes away. I put it on my eggs and hash browns a few mornings ago, and it was a whole new way to eat breakfast. I will most likely save this one for eggs.

Mild Chow Chow- I’ve never had Chow Chow before but Mom has so when she explained to me what it was, I was anxious to try it. To me, it tasted like a cross between sweet pickle relish and sour cole slaw. It had a sweet beginning and a sour finish. As the website says, it goes good with tuna salad. Probably one of the best tuna salads I’ve ever made.
