Now, I'll be the first to admit that I don't know what an excellent online deal looks like since I rarely shop online, anyways. But, with me and Twin's birthday coming up in December, I wanted to "window shop", or get an idea of what the gifts will cost me. I knew I had about $50 to spend, so I thought long and hard about what to get her. Then a light bulb went off in my head! I finally selected upon something practical.
I won't go into details about what I decided on because of course Twin is now a reviewer here on Edge of Insanity. The LAST thing I want is for her to find out what she could possibly be getting before I even have a chance to order them. The 4 things will cost me LESS than $45, and that doesn't include shipping. I must say that I am pretty proud of myself! Like I said, I rarely shop online so when I was able to find one of the things she desperately needs for $6, I wanted to jump for joy. I didn't go to those deal websites like ShopAtHome or NoMoreRack. Instead, I went to a website where I receive a regular mail catalog from. They have some great deals on amazing items! I'm sure I've mentioned Lakeside Collection before, right?
But I do have some advice on shopping online but not knowing where to go. For a plethora of coupons/cash back rewards to so many online retailers, ShopAtHome does seem to be the most popular, along with Ebates and RetailMeNot. If you're not used to online shopping and looking for deals, it can seem quite daunting- especially if you have NO idea what you're gonna get that person. The best way is to kind of... shop around. Go to different websites that you think will carry it. Once you find a website that has the cheaper, THEN you can head to ShopAtHome or Ebates to get the coupon code. This allows you to get the maximum savings. After a while, you don't even need to jump from website to website without knowing which places have the best savings.
If you would rather stay away from coupon codes or which websites have the best percentage on saving, then what you can do is sign up to receive your favorite retailer's mailing list so that you get whatever sale is going on. Some places even offer free items to members, like birthday "freebies". Or better yet, with the person's permission, of course, sign them up to receive the birthday "freebies"! Some are one per household, so I would check before signing up anyone else from the same address.
With a Holiday Extravaganza coming up very soon, you can find out more ways to save when shopping for the Holidays!
